Concept
Westcliffe Engineers, Inc. was named for the small Colorado mountain town of Westcliffe, nestled in the Sangre De Cristo mountain range. The name of this mountain range, meaning the "Blood of Christ", refers to the gorgeous copper-red hue of the alpenglow that hits the peaks at sunset and sunrise. I wanted to incorporate copper and a graphic representation of a local peak into the branding as a nod to the town the company was named for. I chose black and white not only to bring out the copper, but also for simplicity's sake, as many of the documents Westcliffe distributes are type-heavy and require traditional formatting. Since Westcliffe's only design needs were for a logo, letterhead, envelope and business card, I did my best to make those things stand out while maintaining clarity.
